raccolta di articoli in inglese di Mario Arcelli, uno dei più prestigiosi economisti monetari italiani dell’ultimo decennio.
This book presents a choice of articles in English by professor Mario Arcelli, one of the most prestigious Italian monetary economists of the last decades and a past Rector of the University LUISS Guido Carli. These writings belong to what I consider maybe the mostproductive period in Arcelli’s scientific experience, going from the second half of the 60s, after his appointment as a professor of economic policy at the University of Trieste, to the end of the 70s, when he started to serve as Chairman of the Department of Economics at the University of Rome La Sapienza. The essays have been grouped in three distinct chapters, organized by proximity in the topics treated as well as in the period in which they were originally written. In more than 40 years of successful academic (and professional) activity, Mario Arcelli’s theoretical and policy interests have spread from production and growth theory to general equilibrium, from monetary policy to debt management and finance. Accordingly, this book offers only a selection of thoughts in a limited set of the areas touched by our author. However, I believe the selection made is rich enough to provide a good first impression of the ability of Mario Arcelli in synthesizing important contributions in different fields of economics and in highlighting promising new routes of investigation.
