The collective work “Human Mobility. Migration from a European and African viewpoint” analyses the phenomenon of migrations. Experts from Africa and Europe answered to a call for paper issued by the Institute for the Studies of the Mediterranean Societies and the Institute for International Legal Studies of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR). The main goal of this book is to contribute to the dissemination of scientific knowledge concerning the reason why people migrate and the development and changes occurring in the various forms of human mobility. The literature on migration is indeed very broad but yet migration studies do not have a multidisciplinary approach and are often biased by a Eurocentric approach that refers to the paradigm of the defence of the continent from the unwanted migrants. This volume is published in the framework of the activities of the “Progetto Migrazioni” financed by a joint initiative of the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research and CNR.
