Dante’s Lives: Autobiographical Narration and Biographies in Paradise
The Divine Comedy is the first-person narrative of the otherworldly journey undertaken by the protagonist, who is also the author of the work. The identity of narrator-protagonist-author is constitutive of autobiographical texts, but in Dante’s poem this circumstance clashes with certain characteristics that seem to contradict the work’s possible inclusion within the autobiographical genre (for example, the systematic use of allegory, the difficult marriage between reality and fiction regarding the subject of the narration). This article focuses on the poem’s narrative structure and analyzes how autobiographical
narration (relating to the protagonist) and biographical narration
(relating to the lives of souls) intertwine, with particular attention to how this occurs in the poem’s final canticle

Pasolini sulle tracce di Dante nell’Inferno di Pietralata
Pasolini on the trail of Dante in the Inferno of Pietralata
Pier Paolo Pasolini’s poetics is heavily indebted to Dante, as the author
himself acknowledges. Echoes, suggestions, and direct references to the imagery of the Comedy appear in many works, and they gain momentum and subtlety as his literary career evolves. Dante’s afterlife is exploited as a source of tropes and linguistic suggestions. In like fashion, the figure of Christ as a symbol of sacrifice for humanity’s
redemption becomes increasingly recurrent in his works. Since the motifs and the stylistic features of the Comedy take on a substantial
role already in the narrative of the 1950s, the paper investigates the
influences of Dante’s Inferno on Pasolini’s second Roman novel, Una vita violenta (Garzanti, 1959). Given for granted that the debt to the whole of the Comedy emerges in the overall fabric of the novel, in the first part of Una vita violenta, the Bildung of the protagonist in the Roman rundown suburbs is systematically presented as a trip to Hell. The paper aims at demonstrating how, as Tommasino Puzzilli descends into the underworld of Pietralata and sinks into a spiral of crime, his journey runs parallel to Dante’s infernal circles – lexically, thematically,
and in the conjuring up of the general atmosphere.

La mirabile architettura del manoscritto Vu 20, Kungliga Biblioteker: il ruolo creativo dello scribe-éditeur nella dialettica tra testo e miniature inedite
The Remarkable Architecture of Manuscript Vu 20, Kungliga Biblioteket: The Creative Role of the Scribe-Éditeur in the Dialectic between Text and Innovative Miniatures
This article examines the Stockholm manuscript Vu 20 (Kungliga Biblioteket), a key witness of the Roman d’Alexandre en prose, focusing on its sophisticated interplay between text and image. Through a detailed analysis of textual interpolations and unique iconographic features, the study highlights the role of the scribe-éditeur as a creative agent. The manuscript’s architectural composition and visual storytelling are explored as part of a larger cultural and intellectual context tied to the crusader states and their mediterranean
networks.

Nova Graeca Mediaevalia: Πóλεμος της Τρωάδος. Sulla fortuna del mito troiano in greco volgare
Roman de Troie – Πόλεμος της Τρωάδος: notes on the reuse of Trojan myth in ver nacular Greek.

La “Proposta di premi fatta dall’Accademia dei Sillografi”: un modello paradigmatico contro il «nuovo ordine delle cose»
The “Proposta di premi fatta dall’Accademia dei Sillografi”: a paradigmatic model against the «new order of things»
The essay acknowledges and corroborates the current interest in the Proposta di premi fatta dall’Accademia dei Sillografi, which recent contributions began to redeem from the marginal position to which it had been relegated, highlighting its evocative relevance. These contributions enrich the interpretative models available, framing the most relevant themes of the operetta and describing Leopardi’s critical equipment against the presumptions of technique and its exasperated mechanicism. However, it seems worthwhile a more close reading of the text in question, in order to highlight its functioning, and the authorial choices that compose it. To this end, this contribution
analyses the exceptional nature of the Proposta di premi, which from several angles proves to be a true textual unicum: the resources of irony, inventiveness and intertextuality have allowed the author not only to harshly denounce, in the short text, the limits and distortions of the «age of machines», but also to oppose it resolutely, attempting its possible overcoming, as Alla sua donna demonstrates.

Misurare le parole e imparare a convincere. Sulla retorica in don Milani
Measuring one’s words and learning to persuade. On rhetoric in don Milani
It is a common opinion that the plain and direct language of Lorenzo
Milani is programmatically anti-rhetorical. The paper documents how, on the contrary, his writings result from an accurate choice of linguistic tools suited to building a persuasive argumentation. In short, the impressive strength of his style is not achieved by eliminating any rhetorical feature, but through rhetorical means and for rhetorical purposes.
